Chako - fall/winter 2002

It is generally undisputed that while Chako for JME is not on the cutting edge of hip Canadian fashion, outside of Canada it is the go-to label for women looking for haute-de-gamme quality lambskin garments. The company’s second Toronto Fashion Week appearance did, however showcase some desirable separates. The reversible fur vests with an inside lining of spotted print leather is the glitzy alternative to the younger cobalt denim short jacket with white fur trim. More typical Chako fare can be found in the gold rose-print long coat. Japanese elements are featured in the black lambskin dresses with detachable Kimono collars, aptly placing the collection in the exotic context that accounts for its appeal.
