Melissa Nepton adds a few spatial elements to trendy wrapping and draping to make it figure-friendly for fall-winter 2010.
In black and grey (alright, there were two white pieces), her fall collection featured wrap coats with large, loosely ruffled collars and open hoods. Mongolian and fox fur trims, pleather segments on jersey and wool define the body—in the most flattering ways, of course. The short-sleeved kimono jacket languidly places emphasis on the waist and has just enough structure to stay in business-casual territory.
Large jersey cowl necks and slouchy turtlenecks in gauze play demurely under jackets, reminding everyone how sexy skin can be under a wisp of material. Dangly chains, fringe, feathers, and the liberal use of black leggings—in particular the pleather and slouchy mesh variety—give some street cred to this collection.
