Janet T. Planet - spring/summer 2003
Janet T. Planet was bent on presenting nothing conventional for Spring/summer 2003, and was highly successful in this regard, producing a collection of diverse silhouettes in different cuts. The show opened with some loose peau-de-soie separates in powder blue, lime, grey and white, all of which feature diffused embroidery. The tops are either held together with knots or wraparound sashes, and are generally flared at either the sleeve or the waist.
Bright orange webbing takes the collection into more exploratory terrain, and the same orange is used to embroider sultry items such as a white mini-skirt and the cinched-waist skirt with barely perceptible pleats. What makes the collection memorable are the pieces where Janet T. Planet really lets loose, like the layered bias-cut skirt with the open side and the dresses and with either horizontal straps or a horizontal straight cut across the shoulders.
