Eve Gravel - spring/summer 2010

Ève Gravel returns to Montreal Fashion week after a two-year hiatus, with a streamlined collection imbued with a quiet confidence.
Open jackets with scrunched-up sleeves and slim pants make their case for the strong power silhouette, but don’t let that fool you. There is a girlish easiness about Ève Gravel’s collection that is infused in all of her clothing, even the tight black numbers with minimal breathing room. The whisper-light dresses and loose blousons were fresh and relaxed, cut with just enough pretty details like ruffles on a blue cross-hatch dress, and lace inserts on a grey tank top.
The understated stars of the collection are the innocuous buttons, used delicately. Aside from performing purely functional duties, Gravel’s buttons on a pair of black shorts lends it some sex appeal, while becoming demure decoration on the grey cotton dress.
Using a simple colour palette of translucent white, black, dove grey, light blue and polka-dotted fine chiffon, Gravel cohesively brought together diverse looks reflecting different facets of the women she dresses.
Not only did the collection have something for everyone, but it had everyone wanting more.
