Pink Tartan - spring/summer 2010

For spring-summer 2010, Pink Tartan adds streetsmart sparkle, sequins and stripes to its trademark preppiness.
Jumpers, skirts and even the lining of a black swing coat came in black and white Breton stripes. Turning up the retro were sequins for day and night, on almost everything—miniskirts, slouchy tanks and dresses. The standout was a brilliant blue mini-dress with a clover print, a Pink Tartan signature trifoliate that doesn’t need the lucky fourth leaf. Wide leg pants are an interesting respite from the overall shortness of hems, as was the caramel leather suit from the sparkle of tiny shiny discs.
Though to truly achieve this season’s soft, waist-defined T-shape, this collection features what Pink Tartan does well—jackets. Toppers cinched with long leather belts are trendy this season, from biker jackets to slouchy cardigans to trench coats, with and without exterior moulded shoulder pads.
About the shoulder pads. They are the quirky detail in this collection, turning up in allmaners of clothing and even on striped jersey t-shirts. It had me smiling—intentional or not, it was mischievous relief at the recent relentless strong-shouldered trend.
