The Canadian Hairdresser and BeautyBeat Magazine 8th Mirror Awards 2002

The Canadian Hairdresser and BeautyBeat Magazine 8th Mirror Awards 2002 aimed to please a hairstyling crowd this year with a popular circus theme. Circus gives a great creative outlet to make-up and hairstyling teams recreating and taming the wild beasts. From the perfection of leopard by Fritz Laboucane of Vidal Sasson, to always amazing make-up by Richard St. Laurent from Pure who won the first prize later that evening, to Taz Hair zebras and “Technicolor dream” poodles by Denis Bouchard, just to mention a few.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to hairstlying innovator Martin Parsons by his dear friend, who flew in to surprise him and to recount to the crowd her memories of Parsons. Martin Parsons is a highly regarded Canadian hair stylist, who has travelled the world to educate and inspire stylists with his unmistakable vision. The evening (longer than Oscars Awards ceremony) provided all the winners with an opportunity to share their happiness, and even tears. Pure Salon from Montreal received an overwhelming number of awards, and they took the opportunity to announce the opening of Pure Salon in Toronto this August. Yet another creativity boost for the whole hairstyling group. Let’s hope the more conservative Toronto consumers will follow.
